Aashish and Divya
A divine Hindu Wedding under Santorini’s light blue spells
Living a movie-like Hindu wedding in Santorini, Greece
The most romantic and unforgettable moment of a couple’s life is their wedding, especially, if it is held at one of the greatest seaview islands in Greece, Santorini. One of these weddings, which reminds us of scenes from romantic Indian movies, is the amazing four-day celebration of Aashish and Divya’s marriage. The combination of Indian culture and the picturesque place of Santorini is a conspicuous result that outshines any other Indian wedding.
An inspirational Hindu wedding with a blue and white background
The beginning of their first wedding day was a spectacular private cruise with a catamaran that hosted the couple’s seventy guests. It is always a great chance to admire the beauty of the Aegean sea and enjoy the light sea breeze. The outcome was everyone’s astonishment, amazed and absorbed at the view of the incredible island as they were. Needless to say, the whole tour on the silk blue waters of Santorini were accompanied by mouth-watering finger food and champagne toasts.
Fascinated by the first pre-wedding tour around the island, what followed brought even warmer smiles. It was Divya’s time to apply her henna designs on her hands and feet during an authentic, traditional Mehndi event. The location of this event was chosen to be Akro in Akrotiri, a well-known luxurious beach of Santorini. In addition, some of the guests stole a moment to relax there and admire the nostalgic evening blue of the sea while the couple was having a pre-wedding photo shooting in front of this beauty. The day ended with a nice dinner at the exotic cave restaurant Akro, enjoying the serenity of the amazing rocky landscape.
And then the third day arrived, with the second traditional part of the ceremony. For such a wonderful and special moment, the setting couldn’t be more idyllic than the enchanting venue of Santorini Gem. On that sunny day, the place provided every guest with the chance to admire the magnificent caldera view and the calm blue sea.
In a special Barraat like this, the appearance of the groom wasn’t on a horse or an elephant as it is common- but on a big car, looking really cool and modern, but- at the same time- according to the customs. Loud and vivid music was the background of his arrival, making all the guests dance and celebrate the moment.
A wide selection of colors and rituals in a romantic Indian fairytale
The image of the blessed couple under the red and white flowers of the wedding altar-mandap – was simply inexpressible. The selection of the couple’s garments was purely traditional, with the bride wearing red and gold sari(s), with the auspicious red one being the prominent color at traditional Indian weddings. On the other hand, the groom wore a traditional sherwani, made from a white long top and pants.
All the guests sat on white chairs decorated with big red ribbons and enjoyed the ceremony under the warmth of the sun and a soft blue background. The couple clasped its hands and took four steps around the fire respecting every symbol of the ritual; duty, prosperity, earthly pleasuresa, and spiritual salvation. In the end of these treasured moments, the couple was cheered by their relatives and guests by throwing red petals at them.
Afterwards, everyone relaxed in the decorated wedding area, where everything was absolutely ready for the main course. In the centre of the table red and yellow roses formed a refreshing tone of ornaments. Toasts and wishes… Delicious Indian vegetarian meals…. Everything was unbelievably perfect and planned in detail for a once-in-a-lifetime traditional wedding reception in front of the best island’s blue majesty.
A remarkable civil wedding facing the eternal blue
Last but not least, the third day of their marriage was officially completed with the civil wedding in a gorgeous outdoor terrace, called LeCiel. This time the couple was more relaxed and they were smiling constantly to each other. Divya’s outfit was a tight white wedding dress, showing her delicate silhouette. Her dark healthy hair was left on her shoulders in big waves. Aashish had chosen a smart suit in blue-grey colors, suitable for a summer wedding.
A special custom-made wedding cake with white roses and smaller white flowers, tempted the minds to taste it. Later, everyone enjoyed watching our couple’s soft dance while a woman played the harp played softly for the moment. The calm blue sea, the harp and the Indian couple in light colors beguiled with that stunning picture. It was definitely a blue spell of Santorini’s island!
After all these necessities, an amazing all-night party followed, having the younger friends and relatives dance and continue partying until next morning.
